Mathew actually volunteered for a solo in his choir at school. I'll keep you posted on how that one goes.

Performing (ie. sharing your talents)
Felicity sang "Listen" at her school's inaugural talent show. Even the day before, she was saying that she didn't want to do it. She was nervous. She ended up deciding to do it, and I think she is glad that she did. She did a very good job singing in the style of Beyonce or "Sunshine Corazon" from Glee. As the woman who sat next to me said when she finished, "Now that girl has talent!" I was particularly proud of the persistence and poise she maintained while the music cd I brought failed to support her, causing its operator to stop it prematurely. Felicity just kept singing. Way to go, Felicity. Enjoy:

FHE = Family Home Entertainment
Sometimes, it is tough to come up with a Family Home Evening lesson that will keep everyone's attention. Actually, it is tough all the time. Last night, I decided to throw together a slide show. I happened to have a projector
that I could hook up to a laptop
since its owner (my fellow
Gospel Doctrine teacher) will be out of town next week.
The beginning of FHE was typically rowdy, especially since Andrew had dragged in his mattress to jump on. I used Picasa to throw some pictures together and turned on some music on
Media Player. It was instant engagement, and it was fun. Enjoy some of my favorites.
(I tried to share the whole slideshow album with you. If you want to see it but didn't get the link, send me your email address)

Dinner time
Andrew at dinner |
When it was all ready and the table was set, I asked Andrew to tell everyone that dinner was ready. Crystal stayed in bed to rest. Mathew came in for prayer, but then he left. So, Andrew and I had dinner together. Felicity came when we were about done. It was good.
Do I care that not everyone joined us for dinner? A little.
Should I insist that everyone is present when dinner begins? Probably not.
We often eat all together. Just not tonight. I figure that I did my part and provided the meal. Besides, I like to eat the leftovers the next day.
